Poetry After the Storm: An Event to Benefit Hurricane Katrina Relief

Date and Time: Friday, November 4 at 7 PM
Place: Heller Multicultural Center in Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, corner of
Bancroft and Telegraph, UC Berkeley

A campus-wide Poetry Reading to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina, it will be
one of the largest student poet collaborations ever to take place on
the UC Berkeley campus. The event will feature California Poet Laureate Al Young and The Jigsaw
Collective, and will showcase students from 8 poetry groups and publications on campus, including
the Berkeley Poetry Review, Maganda, Vagabond, Poetry for the People,
Cal Slam, Onyx Express, and La Voz. Silent auction and reception to follow. The event is free
to the public, and all donations and proceeds from the silent auction will go to relief for
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
